Dalton never knew a stranger because anyone he met automatically became his friend. His daughter, Kenlee, was his world and he did anything and everything he could for her. While her boys were in college, she worked for the local IGA Grocery store in Herndon and for Gwen’s Plumbing & Heating in Oberlin. Early in life, she worked in the post office in Herndon. Joann was a devoted wife and homemaker for her children. Tim preceded her in death on September 28, 1986. This union was blessed with five children: Jerry, Rosalie, Nancy, John, and James. They divorced, and later she met and was united in marriage to Francis Gerald “Tim” Malone on November 28, 1950. She was a graduate of Herndon High School in the Class of ‘47. She attended over eight years in rural country schools. She was one of eight children born to John and Emma (Keplinger) Huss. Joann was born December 21, 1929, on the family farm 5 miles west of Herndon, Kansas.
